“Influence radiates outward only as far as you’ve gone inward. The depth of your self-influence determines the radius of your impact.”

Kimberly Gayle

EPISODE OVERVIEW

You are already a leader. You are running your business, holding your vision, serving your clients, and showing up every day. But leadership and influence are not the same thing — and if your presence isn’t creating the movement, momentum, and recognition you know you’re capable of, this episode will show you exactly why.

In Episode 66, Kimberly Gayle introduces the Bold Influence Framework — a five-level model for building real influence from the inside out. Drawing from her eleven years in Fortune 500 corporate communications, eight years co-owning Final Draft Taphouse, and her personal brand journey with ABVGirl, Kimberly walks through each level of influence with real stories, honest lessons, and a clear path forward for women entrepreneurs who are ready to stop leading from behind and start influencing from within.

This episode is not about tactics. It’s not about posting more or showing up consistently. It’s about understanding that the word influence comes from the Latin influere — meaning to flow into — and that what flows into others is not your strategy. It’s you. Your presence. Your energy. Your story. Your bold, unapologetic way of moving through the world.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE

  • Why leadership and influence are not the same thing — and which one is actually building your personal brand
  • The Latin root of the word “influence” and why it changes everything about how you show up
  • The Bold Influence Framework: five levels of influence that expand outward from self to scale
  • What Kimberly learned about influence in corporate boardrooms coaching C-Suite leaders — and how she role-modeled the very thing she was asking them to do
  • How Mike and Kimberly built the culture at Final Draft Taphouse through values-first hiring, storytelling, and daily repetition of their ethos
  • How ABVGirl became a community — not just an audience — and the moment Kimberly realized her presence was giving other women permission to live bolder
  • Why your personal brand is not a platform — it’s a call to rise
  • How showing up bold and visible doesn’t just build your brand — it influences the women watching you to become influential themselves

THE BOLD INFLUENCE FRAMEWORK: FIVE LEVELS

Level 1: Self You cannot influence anyone else until you influence yourself. This is where everything begins — the decision to choose who you are becoming before the evidence exists. The skills: self-awareness, self-talk, self-motivation, values alignment, and discernment.

Level 2: One-on-One Real influence was never about authority. It’s built through genuine listening, earned trust, learning someone’s language and goals, and role-modeling the very behavior you’re asking of them. The skills: active listening, empathy, emotional intelligence, relationship intelligence, and boundary setting.

Level 3: Team When influence compounds, it becomes culture. You cannot build culture through instruction alone — you build it through story, repetition, and showing up to your own values on your hardest days. The skills: storytelling, communication, goal setting, and empowering others.

Level 4: Community When your influence stops being about you, it becomes a movement. An audience consumes. A community believes. When people start showing up differently in their own lives because of what you’re sharing — that is Level 4. The skills: storytelling at scale, empowering others, relationship intelligence, and leadership presence.

Level 5: Scale Influence that outlives your presence in any single room. When what you built keeps going not because you’re still in the room — but because people believed in it so deeply they carry it forward themselves.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • The distinction that changes everything: You can lead without creating movement. Influence is what closes that gap.
  • The Latin root: Influere — to flow into. What flows into people is not your tactics. It’s your presence, energy, voice, and story.
  • You cannot skip levels. Influence expands outward like rings in water — but only as far inward as you’ve been willing to go.
  • Personal brand is not a platform. It is a call to rise — and every time you show up bold and visible and fully yourself, you are influencing the women watching you to become influential themselves.
  • Bold, visible, influential leadership is not the exception. It is becoming the norm. And you are part of building that.

THIS WEEK’S BOLD INFLUENCE AUDIT

PART ONE: LEVEL 1 AWARENESS — LOOK INWARD

Step 1: Where are you right now? Read through the five levels and identify which statement hit closest to home. Write it down without judgment.

Step 2: Go to Level 1 — no matter what. Ask yourself: Where am I still waiting for external validation before I choose to believe something different about myself? Write it out. Don’t rush it.

Step 3: Name what’s been blocking you from flowing into others. What’s been blocking my influence from flowing? Own your story. Step into your voice. Name it.

PART TWO: LEVEL 4 ACTION — GO BOLD AND VISIBLE

Step 4: Define what you want to flow into others. Finish this sentence: “When women encounter my presence, my voice, my story — I want them to feel _______ and believe that _______ is possible for them.”

Step 5: Be bold, be visible, use your voice. Take what you wrote and show up with it publicly this week. Post it. Record it. Share it. Not perfect. Not polished. Real. Tag @boldemergencebranding — I want to see you show up.

THIS WEEK’S MANTRA

“I influence myself first. My presence is the permission. My story is the proof. My life is the call.”
