How to Use Snapchat – The Basics

If you ask any person under the age of 30 about Snapchat and his/her use of it, well, you get that “duh, of course, I-use-it look!”

Well, yes, even though I’m over 30, I use it too, but sparingly. I have two actual friends on SnapChat and can barely figure out how to change the timing of how long my snaps stay active for those two friends. Even though, I consult on social media doesn’t mean I know every social medium inside and out. My clients tend to not be on Snapchat because their audiences/potential customers aren’t there.

Research from comScore shows that 71 percent of Snapchat’s American users fall in the 18-34 range. It also reports that 45 percent of Snapchat’s users are 18 to 24 years old. Snapchat’s audience probably skews even younger than that, since comScore’s survey ignores everyone under the age of 18.

SnapChat is growing in its use and is a very interesting and fun way for people and brands to connect with each other, especially the younger crowd/millennials! So, I saw this article today and wanted to share it here because it’s SO helpful! Whether you want to use Snapchat for you, learn what your kids are doing on Snapchat, or you want to try and figure out how to leverage for your business, this is a way to learn the basics.
